East of El Paso, Hudspeth County is vast, remote, and sparsely populated. Its seat is Sierra Blanca, with Dell City as another small town. Established in 1917, it’s historically a ranching county but now best known for its wide-open desert landscape. The county is extremely rural, with minimal development. Housing is limited to modest homes in Sierra Blanca, ranch houses, and mobile homes. El Paso is about 90 miles west, providing the nearest major services. Prices are very low: most homes cost $70,000–$130,000, while desert land sells for $500–$2,000 per acre. Buyers are often investors, ranchers, or people seeking off-grid lifestyles.
