Bordering Arkansas in East Texas, Cass County is centered on Linden (county seat) and Atlanta, with Hughes Springs adding another small-town hub. Founded in 1846, the county has deep timber and iron-ore history, and its towns still showcase Victorian courthouses and antique storefronts. The area is largely rural and small-town, with piney woods defining the landscape. The nearest larger city is Texarkana, only 20–25 minutes north. Housing includes wood-frame cottages, brick ranch houses, and farmhouses on multi-acre tracts. Newer subdivisions are limited, but scattered custom builds appear near Atlanta. Prices for existing homes range from $130,000 to $240,000, with wooded acreage suitable for building commonly $5,000–$10,000 per acre.
