Small and sparsely populated, Cottle County is located in North Texas with Paducah as its seat. Established in 1876, it has always been an agricultural and ranching region. The county is extremely rural, with very few towns or subdivisions. Paducah provides basic services, but the nearest larger city is Wichita Falls, about 90 miles northeast. Housing stock is limited: small single-family homes, older farmhouses, and modular units. Prices are low: existing homes often $70,000–$140,000, while farmland averages $1,000–$3,000 per acre.
